at this show! 11/4/90 Fort Ram, Fort Collins, CO I: Carolina, DC Bag, Curtain,
Bouncing, Tube, Harry, Funky Bitch, Asse, MSO, Bowie II: Golgi, Rocky,
Llama, Mike'S > Hydrogen > Weekapaug, Caravan (w/Manteca), Runaway, OhKePa
> Suzy, Jesus, YEM Enc: Contact, Highway The "Caravan" is actually a Manteca/Caravan.
Manteca is played in its entirety overtop and amidst Caravan. It is certainly
a must-hear for those of you who haven't heard it (except for the person
who said that he didn't like Caravan.. I BET YOU REALLY LIKE AXILLA, THOUGH,
RIGHT? OR MAYBE THE STUDIO VERSION OF DWD?). Sorry about that.. The Hood
is pretty decent ... but then again, Hood is rarely just "ok" (although
MSG 12/30/94 is an excellent candidate for an "ok" Hood..). MikeS is straightforward
in the opening and in the jam segment, although the jam segment appears
to reflect more interest from Trey than usual. The typical off-key sustaining
crap is there, but he adds more active (not lazy or careless) fillers into
the jam than he usually does (during this period of MikeS). It is good,
but certainly not to die for. Hydrogen kicks in at just after 6 mins.,
and is wholly standard (i.e., great as usual). Weekapaug kicks in after
a few minutes, and is excellent from the start. It illustrates awesome
control from Trey, and everyone in general, but the jam is not taken to
the same places as the 11/2/90 jam was. It doesn't evidence the spectacular
interaction that Phish is capable of. No teases, no space.. nothing but
straight-up Weekapaug, but nothing exceptionally good, either. C rating.
This MikeS Groove is nearly 15 minutes.. (typical length for those of olde)
