Easily one of the best YEMs I've heard before 1993.
If you have a known & low gen copy of this show, I'd love to trade.
Opening segment is ok. Nothing special. First shot at The
Note is
good, second shot, though, is a little sloppy. Not that grand
of an
opening, especially in light of what's to come.
"Boy" at 5:27. WUDMTF segment standard, almost bordering on dull.
Page is fairly active in the tramps segment, though. Mike is
gicing
the signals (the first version with the tramps appears to have been
early may '89, based on tapes alone). Anyway, Page is very good
in
this tramps jam.. extrmely active.
Jam segment around 10:30. Trey, as in the 5/28/89 version, becomes
Jimmy Page and ferociously jams (he noodles a bit, but it is mostly
straight up Zepplin-esque jamming). Trey just rips up this jam
segment NONSTOP. Mike and Page actually drop out for awhile,
and Fish
and Trey just wail. Spectacular. It'd be WEIRD if they
did something
like this nowadays, but I still think this YEM smokes many versions
of
the last few years. There's a tease of a typical blues tune (forget
the name) around 15 mins. Fantastic closing minutes.. the jam
returns
to something more along the lines of YEM around 16... mellows a bit
around 17. Mike slowly and gently noodles in here, and Fish eases
out
a slaky groove, but there really isn't a bass and drums segment at
all. Vocal jam kicks in around 18, but nothing of any merit occurs.
20:08 total time, but my copy might be a little slower than it should
be. B+/A- rating. I extremely recommend hearing this YEM,
even
though it is very similar to 5/28/89.
