Many thanks to all who submitted essays for the SBIX "contest." It was indeed a contest in the sense we wanted to generate participation and provide a little extra motivation for folks to share. Bags-o-phish.net schwag will be passed out to those that generated the most votes, and as promised, essays that the site team found best captured the essence of the event will be featured on the blog for the next week.
The point of this endeavor had little to do with a contest, voting, or prizes, however. We simply wanted to capture the raw emotions and stories of fans who enjoyed the event and bottle the immediate reactions of the experience for posterity. There are no winners or (especially) losers with this project. We'll be archiving the essay thread in an upcoming FAQ page on SB icks.
That said, we do have the results of the top vote-getters.
There was actually a multi-way tie for 10th place, plus one judges "save" that resulted in 14 finalists. We will be featuring several of these essays on our blog over the coming week. The people's choices were:
Thanks to everyone wrote wrote, read, and voted. And thanks to Phish for throwing the Best Party of the Summer for 20+ years!

The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we're entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we've distributed over $2 million to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.

I'm number 4! I'm number 4!....

(2) Your choice of [i]one[i] of the following pieces of new swag from the Phish.net store, http://www.phishnet.portmerch.com/stores/home.php :

And a random piece of geem from my personal collection of extra official festival map brochures from Lemonwheel, Camp Oswego, Great Went, Big Cypress or IT...random, very limited supplies, no requests, pls.)
Now for the small print:
As you know, we're all volunteers here so we don't have an office and run our website and fan charitable foundation "virtually" by email. So yours truly has to coordinate getting your prizes together and mailing them to each of you. So I ask that you follow the instructions carefully to minimize confusion and make it easy to handle the prizes.
By next Tuesday, July 26th,
Please send one (1) email to jack@phish.net with the subject line "Claim My Essay Prize" and the following information in this order:
a. Your real name and mailing address in this format:
Real Name @net_user_name)
1234 Cavern Rd
King of Prussia, PA 19406
b. Which prize you want (Bic lighter cover, jesusphish badge, license plate frame, can coozys or bottle coozys).
I'll send a confirmation message around July 27th to everyone whose registered acknowledging your selections.
To help keep my sanity, please use the email and subject line exactly so my mailreader will catch them and do not submit multiple requests or PM me, etc. All prize packages will come from me, not from the Phish.net store, so we can't send complimentary prize items through the store. Also, it will take a couple of weeks for this process to work for me to get everyone's "order", get the stuff from the store and send the prizes to you, so your patience is appreciated and will be rewarded.
(And if you're not a winner, you can still get any of the above fine items from the Phish.net store! Hint hint. Make fine surprise gifts for your tour friends...they will be appreciated, I can vouch for that, having gifted some swag at SBIX!)
Lighter cover:
Car badge:
License plate frame:

If there are any questions about the prize items in the Phish.net store, the best place to check out larger photos and descriptions is in the store itself. From the phish.net homepage top menu navigation bar, click on "Store".
I'm sure I've posted this a ton of times, but really great job done by everyone! Thanks for making memories people.
